I. COURSE DESCRIPTION

This course introduces the student to the origin of the Hebrew tongue, its presage over the millennia, its recent resurrection as a national language, and also launches the student into a study to read, write, and speak Biblical Hebrew. The course primarily uses two books: Reshit Binah which is a primer authored by Simon Fish and used by the Jewish Federation of America, and Messiah Yeshua in the Hebrew AlephBeit authored by Dr. Reginald (Reggie) Lisemby of Messianic Ministry to Israel, a 501(c)3 non-profit mission-board that began in Chattanooga, TN in 1944 and which supports representatives in the Holy Land, Israel and in the USA.

II. COURSE OBJECTIVES

The objectives for READ HEBREW are the following: (1) learn the Hebrew alephbeit (alphabet); (2) learn the rudiments of Hebrew grammar; (3) develop a basic vocabulary of Hebrew words; (4) recognize, read, and speak biblical and some modern Hebrew; (5) have a deeper insight to God’s Word and gain a greater understanding and more exact interpretation of the Holy Scriptures since Hebrew is the mother tongue of the Bible, and Hebrew is the mother tongue of Greek, Latin, Roman, and myriad other languages of the world. Hebrew was the original language God used when He gave His Holy Scriptures. The New Testament should have and would have been written in Hebrew had the Jewish nation capiulated and surrenered to Messiah Yeshua Who came. Their rejection of Yeshua was cause for the Gospel to be spoken to them in stacato languages of the world (Acts 2).
